GOD JUL! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
GOD JUL & GOTT NYTT ÅR!
A MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Vi gick i julottan i morse. Då var det becksvart men snart kom ljuset och då fick vi uppleva den här underbara morgongryningen. Juldagsmorgon i skånska Övraby.
We went to early morning service at our local church. It was so dark when it started but soon came the daylight with these wonderful skies. Christmas Day morning.
Stilla Natt, här sjungen av S:t Thomas gosskör på det tyska originalspråket. Silent Night, sung by St. Thomas Boys Choir in the original German language. Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht:
Someone commented this musical performance as follows: “The song was first performed on Christmas Eve 1818 at St Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a village on the Salzach river. The young priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had come to Oberndorf the year before. He had already written the lyrics of the song “Stille Nacht” in 1816 at Mariapfarr, the hometown of his father in the Salzburg Lungau region, where Joseph had worked as a coadjutor.” The commentator doesn’t mention his name, but I hereby take the opportunity to thank him so much for this valuable information!
