Prayers for the persecuted Christians
“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44)
Often I find it best to use one’s own words when praying for the persecuted Christians and the persecuted Church, but sometimes the words just aren’t there.
Then it could be a good idea to use already written prayers, like those formulated by Open Doors. There you can download a monthly prayer calendar – see more here – with written prayers day by day and country by country – for e.g. September 2014: see here.
Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church in America has recently published some prayers read “at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy”. These “prayers were offered for the suffering people of Egypt, Syria, and throughout the world, especially those who are being persecuted for their Christian faith” – read more here.
